IRONY OF NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

I would like to congratulate the winners of this year's nobel peace prize.India's Kailash Satyarthi and Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai were awarded the Nobel peace prize 2014 jointly for "showing great personal courage and in their struggle against the suppression of children and for the right of all children to education".

The irony is both countries are raining bullets and motor shells on each other which are not directed only at elders but at children and their schools too . Where will they go for education ? What is the use of our political leaders heaping praises on them when they can not guarantee a enjoyable childhood to our children. Atleast now pakistan should wakeup and own malala and her achievements by contributing towards girl education in pakistan. India too have to wake up from its slumber and have to do something about children who are working as labourers instead of enjoying their childhood.

As always my inquisitive brain started thinking who is this malala(read her name while preparing for competitive exams) and who is this Satyarthi(honestly i didn't knew about him). A person of the calibre of Satyarthi has not been in spotlight in media while our wily politicians comments do find headlines. whose fault is this?

Malala is a child activist  born in hell(ofcourse its pakistan) who stood up to face the bullets of the militants who are opposed to education, particularly girl's education. She has been shot in the head and by miracle and by the good work of the doctors of England she survived to tell the story of her life, to encourage child education all over the world. I wondered if she was not born in Pakistan would anybody know about Malala. My answer is NO. yeah, think for a minute that if Malala was born in London, why would she become a child activist instead of enjoying her childhood where children are free to pursue education, play their games and enjoy their childhood. But the whole world especially US is closing eyes, attacking the province daily with drones and destroying the infrastructure of schools along with killings of thousands of small children. The spineless government of Pakistan is no good with army calling the shots there. From tough situations do leaders come out. There were thousands of girls who were afraid of militants and didn't even venture out to go to school forget about facing the militants. But the catch point here is if she were still anywhere in Pakistan she would have faced a violent death instead of all awards that are coming her way. Its because of the western media efforts her story has reached  the world and made her the youngest recipient of the Nobel prize.

India has achieved her freedom long back but still it has largest number of enslaved people according to a survey. I read the news and  started wondering how can they claim India is enslaved and then realised its true. If we see around us and start peeping in to ourselves we may realise that many of us are leading a life as slaves. slaves to work, our habbits, our temptations, our relations and to our careers. In the same way our media is also slave to TRP ratings. A rapist, a smuggler and even a terrorist interests them more than a social activist and his work. What Ajmal kasab had for his lunch, dinner and how he died we know all this but there is no dedicated page for social activists who fight alone anonymously and we get know about them only when they are recognised by foreign countries and agencies. Satyarthi, who had founded the Bachpan Bachao Andolan in 1980, has been a relentless crusader for child rights. Now we can find the photo of this gentleman in headlines of every Indian newspaper.(and will be forgetten in few days except for candidates preparing for competitive exams)  Minutes after Satyarthi's name was announced, the website of his NGO 'Bachpan Bachao Andolan' crashed due to heavy traffic. Sadly, till yesterday Kailash was little known in his own country.

What I am trying to imply is how we can help this children who are burning their life working in dangerous places and jobs which a adult should have been doing. Modiji should also take note of this and save all the children from bonded labour and give them a good life by strictly implementing the right to education act. I request my fellow Indians to unshackle themselves from slavery and start living and enjoying their life doing some good work which benefits our society.
